本院皮膚科鐘文宏醫師率領的團隊於藥物過敏研究卓越有成，領先全球。其中代表著作為2004年領先國際之創新發現嚴重皮膚藥物過敏反應「史帝文生－強生症候群（Stevens-Johnson syndrome，SJS）」與「毒性表皮壞死症（toxic epidermal necrolysis，TEN）」的基因標誌，其發現抗癲癇藥carbamazepine-SJS/TEN的病人與HLA-B*1502基因型有很強的相關性；隨後於2005年又發現降尿酸藥allopurinol引起嚴重皮膚藥物過敏反應的病人與HLA-B*5801基因型有很強的相關性。

這些研究成果不但改變了美國FDA、台灣FDA與加拿大、新加坡、香港及歐盟多國的政府衛生機構之藥物使用警語及藥物仿單標示，也促使了台灣健保給付抗癲癇藥物carbamazepine用藥前篩檢人類白血球抗原基因HLA-B*1502以預防引發SJS/TEN。隨後於2008年發現SJS/TEN的特異致命蛋白-顆粒溶解素 (Granulysin)，解開了嚴重藥物過敏反應引起皮膚潰爛、器官衰竭的致病機轉，進一步開發治療及鑑定藥物過敏的方法。之後鐘醫師於2014年再解開常見過敏藥物phenytoin過敏基因之謎，使近年大大地減少了亞洲及世界各國抗癲癇藥物carbamazepine、phenytoin及降尿酸藥物allopurinol引起嚴重過敏反應的受害者。

鐘文宏醫師團隊也在2009年至2016年期間收募96名SJS、TEN病患，比較傳統類固醇治療和生物製劑對於病人的皮膚癒合和降低死亡率的療效，發現生物製劑可降低約一半死亡率，並且可縮短患者皮膚癒合時間，還能大幅降低腸胃道出血的嚴重副作用，研究結果2018年3月刊登在國際知名的「臨床研究期刊」。

鐘醫師於藥物過敏研究之成果領先全球，常為國內外藥害病患的諮詢的醫師，也是政府單位或醫師諮詢與轉介的對象。

鐘文宏醫師於本院帶領藥物過敏團隊戮力達到以下目標：

（一）建立藥物過敏臨床服務窗口，提供藥物不良反應預防、諮詢及照護機制

（二）整合照護資源，建立藥物不良反應及過敏反應資料庫

（三）開發藥物過敏檢測及篩檢技術

（四）結合臨床及基礎研究資源，致力推動以患者為中心，科際整合之醫療

（五）進行跨國之臨床與基礎研究合作。本著救人濟世的願景，實踐利益眾生之理念，善盡長庚醫療體系社會公益的責任
