Achievements in COVID-19 Response

2021: Recognized with the 4th Global Corporate Sustainability Awards (GCSA) "Outstanding Pandemic Contribution Award" and the 14th Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) "Platinum Award for Sustainability Reporting."

2021: Established Taiwan's first micro-negative pressure delivery room in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

2020: During the COVID-19 pandemic, Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital was awarded the "Epidemic Prevention Award" by President Tsai Ing-wen in recognition of our outstanding results in the number of tests performed.

2020: Established Taiwan's first negative pressure operating room to address the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

 

International Scholars' Achievements

2022: Professor Fu-Chan Wei received the International Medal from the Australian Council on Healthcare Standard International (ACHSi), recognizing his outstanding contributions to improving the quality and safety of international healthcare services.

2022: Professor Fu-Chan Wei became the first recipient of the Research Achievement Award for Innovation established by the American Association of Plastic Surgeons (AAPS) in its centennial year, honoring his exceptional achievements in clinical research.

2020: Distinguished Chair Professor and Academician Alice Lin-Tsing Yu from the Institute of Stem Cell and Translational Cancer Research was awarded the 2020 Pediatric Oncology Award and Lecture by the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

2019: Professor Fu-Chan Wei received the 2018-2019 Presidential Science Prize.

2019: Honorary Dean Chao-Long Chen was honored with the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award by the International Liver Transplantation Society.

2018: Professors Jacob See-Tong Pang and Sen-Yung Hsieh received the 2018 AACR Team Science Award.

2018: Professor David Chwei-Chin Chuang was honored with the highest award of the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery.

2017: The book Flaps and Reconstructive Surgery, edited by Professor Fu-Chan Wei, won first place in the Surgery category at the BMA Medical Awards 2017.

2015: Professor Chao-Long Chen was awarded the Commander of the Order of Francisco Morazán by the Central American Parliament.

2015: Professor Chao-Long Chen received the Paraguayan Health Contribution Medal.

2015: Professor Chao-Long Chen and Dr. Yu-Fan Cheng were honored with the Guatemalan Health Contribution Medal.

2014: Professor Fu-Chan Wei was ranked third among the twenty most influential scholars in head and neck cancer research in the past century by the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies.

2014: Professor Fu-Chan Wei was ranked third among the world's most innovative plastic surgeons by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons.

2014: Professor Fu-Chan Wei was named one of the ten most influential contemporary plastic surgeons by the ACAPS Academic Council and SESPRS.

2013: Academician Yun-Fan Liaw, for his leadership over 36 years in the Liver Research Unit at Chang Gung, received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the European Association for the Study of the Liver, recognizing his significant contributions to understanding the natural history and immunopathogenesis of chronic hepatitis B and its treatment.

2013: Dr. Ho-Chang Kuo received the International Young Investigator Award from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI).

2010: Dr. Ming-Hung Tsai was listed in Marquis Who's Who in the World 2009–2010.

2009: Dr. Mei-Nan Liao, Professor Miin-Fu Chen, and Associate Professor Shin-Cheh Chen received the Outstanding Research Paper Award from the American Cancer Nursing Journal.

2007: Professor Chao-Long Chen, a pioneer in liver transplantation surgery in Asia, was elected as a new academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in the Division of Medicine and Health. He became the second Taiwanese academician since the Academy's establishment in 1994.

2008: Chang Gung Medical Institution became the world’s only institution with three recipients of the Maliniac Lecturer honor from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (1994: Professor Samuel Noordhoff, 2001: Professor Fu-Chan Wei, 2008: Professor Yu-Ray Chen).

2006: Professor Fu-Chan Wei was honored with the World Plastic Surgery Innovation Award and was recognized as one of the twenty most innovative contributors in modern plastic surgery history.

2004: Professor Yu-Ray Chen received the Special Honor Award from the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association.

2003: Professor Fu-Chan Wei received the 2003 Maliniac Lecturer honor from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

2000: Professor Yun-Fan Liaw, for his outstanding achievements in hepatocellular carcinoma research, was elected as an academician in the Biological Sciences Division of Academia Sinica.

1994: Professor Samuel Noordhoff was honored with the 1994 Maliniac Lecturer title by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

 

Chang Gung Achievements

2024: Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital received the highest honor, the "Grand Hospital Award," from the International Hospital Federation(IHF).

2024: The Chang Gung Medical System was awarded 29 honors at the 21st National Biotechnology and Medical Care Quality Awards (NBMQA).

2024: Healthcare Asia Awards 2024 - "Hospital of the Year – Taiwan" & "Smart Hospital Initiative of the Year – Taiwan".

2024: Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital was recognized in the 2023 SNQ National Quality Certification and the NBMQA competition.

2024: Linkou Chang Gung won the Gold and Bronze Awards at the Asia Pacific Sustainability Action Awards (APSAA) and the Gold Award at the Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards (TSAA).

2023: The Chang Gung Medical System received 29 honors at the 20th National Biotechnology and Medical Care Quality Awards (NBMQA).

2023: HIMSS Digital Health Indicator (DHI) World Ranking 2022 - [ 2nd Worldwide] & [1st Nationally], Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital.

2021: The thoracic surgery team established Taiwan's 1st and the world's 2nd "Image-guided Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (iVATS) Demonstration Center."

2021: The Proton Therapy Center at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital received the Silver Award in the Special Purpose Buildings category of the 2021 FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards, the only winner from Taiwan in this category that year.

2020: Established the Taiwan's 1st "Chang Gung Robotic Surgery Training Center" (Da Vinci Surgery Training Center).

2019: Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital became the first hospital in Taiwan to achieve HIMSS EMRAM Stage 7 (the highest level of international certification).

2018: Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital established the Yung-Ching Proton Center, equipped with Taiwan's latest and second proton therapy system.

2015: The Yung-Ching Wang Center For Advanced Medicine (Proton and Radiation Therapy) at Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital was inaugurated, becoming Taiwan's 1st and Asia's largest proton radiation therapy center.

2014: Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital with 3,700 beds in a single building and the largest medical center received Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation. The JCI President personally presented the certificate.

2012: Recognized as the world's leading living donor liver transplantation center, hosting international training programs sponsored by Novartis to train physicians from Asia and the Americas.

2007: Introduced the Da Vinci robotic surgery system and sent multiple physicians abroad to learn its operation, marking a new era in minimally invasive and technology-integrated surgery.

1997: The Ministry of Health approved the independence of Linkou Children's Hospital, making it Taiwan's 1st dedicated children's hospital.

1986: Pioneered Taiwan's "post-consultation payment system" in hospitals.
