China - Sympathetic Nerve Reconstruction (SNR)

In September 2019, due to hyperhidrosis, I underwent a sympathectomy without knowing anything about it. Since then, I have been living a dark and painful existence every single day. It involved tremendous psychological torment as well as numerous physical complications.

Fortunately, 2 weeks after the surgery, I learned that Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan has the most advanced surgical technique for sympathetic nerve reconstruction in the world. I contacted Dr. Tommy Nai-Jen Chang of the Division of Reconstructive Microsurgery, Department of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Chang was always very enthusiastic and active in answering my questions, and he made arrangements, based on my wishes, for me to go to Taiwan for the treatment to reconstruct the sympathetic chain as soon as possible.

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the application procedures for traveling to Taiwan became extremely detailed and complicated. Miss Lanny White and Miss Doris Chiu at the International Medical Center of the hospital kept close track of me and gave me a lot of guidance. Thanks to them, the application process was completed after about 1 year, and I came to Taiwan. Because Lanny and Doris did a lot of meticulous work in the early stages and gave us detailed guidance every step of the way, the process of the 14-day quarantine and treatment went very smoothly after we arrived in Taiwan. They also helped make our stay in Taiwan very feel warm and welcoming.

On January 5, 2021, with 9 hours of concerted efforts by the medical team led by Dr. Yin-Kai Chao and Dr. Tommy Nai-Jen Chang, the reconstruction surgery was a huge success. I felt like I'd been reborn. It helped me return to a normal life, and I will be forever grateful for this day.

I was also quite touched by all the members of the International Medical Center preparing and presenting a birthday cake for me at noon yesterday, including a hand-drawn birthday card that everyone wrote words of encouragement and blessings in. Together, we celebrated the most memorable birthday I've ever had.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Dr. Tommy Nai-Jen Chang, Professor Yin-Kai Chao, and the entire medical team for their hard work in the reconstruction process. In addition, I would like to thank Lanny and Doris of the International Medical Center and all the people who helped make my trip to Taiwan a reality and during the treatment process. Thank you so much for all your help!
