Yu-Jie HUANG MD

Expert in Radiation Therapy

Radiotherapy in brain tumor, liver tumor, breast cancer, and lymphoma, Stereotactic brain radiosurgery, SRS, stereotactic body radiation therapy, SBRT

After graduated from Chang Gung University College of Medicine, doctor Huang Yu-Jie started working at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and was promoted to the attending physician of Department of Radiation Oncology in the year of 2003. Still being an attending physician at the present moment, Doctor Huang, who specializes in the radiation therapy for brain tumor, liver tumor, breast cancer, and lymphoma, has been working in the field of radiotherapy for more than 15 years. With regard to therapeutic technology, the specialist adopts stereotactic radiosurgery to remedy the lesion of the brain, treating over 60 cases annually. In addition to Doctor Huang’s having attended in advanced proton therapy studies in National Cancer Center Hospital, Japan, Samsung Medical Center, Korea, and Mayo Clinic, USA, . Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital is going to import the world’s cutting-edge proton therapy apparatus at the end of 2018 in the hope of giving the state-of-the-art radiotherapy to the patients.

Diagram: the image on the left shows the traditional intensity-modulated radiation therapy as the beam of radiation pierces through and brings much dosage into the brain and brainstem. The image on the right indicates the one of proton therapy. Since the Bragg peak of proton beam and pencil scanning enable the dosage to focus on the tumor and carry out the irradiation by following the shape of the tumor, the volume of irradiated normal brain and brainstem becomes extremely small, raising control rate while reducing the side effects.
