Dr. Lun-Jou Lo is an expert in cleft lip/palate surgery, aesthetic surgery, craniomaxillofacial surgery, orthognathic surgery, facial contouring surgery, 3D medical imaging, surgical simulation, 3D printing, and outcome assessment. He is Professor in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Director of the Image Lab and Craniofacial Research Center, and Chairman of the Department of Surgery, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Linkou Medical Center, and Chang Gung University, Taiwan.
Dr. Lo graduated from Medical School of National Taiwan University. He received residency training in general surgery for 3 years and in plastic and reconstructive surgery for another 3 years. After 4 years of intensive surgical practice and training under Dr. Noordhoff and Dr. Yu-Ray Chen, he continued his learning in the St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Washington University Medical Center, Missouri, US in 1993. In St. Louis, he spent 2 years working with Dr. Jeffrey Marsh in the field of craniofacial surgery and 3-dimensional imaging study.
Dr. Lo has worked closely with the craniofacial team for cleft and maxillofacial patients. The team includes plastic surgeons, orthodontists, speech-language specialists, social worker, nursing specialist, as well as coordinator. Patients were followed up regularly. The multidisciplinary team is effective and supportive to the patients in Taiwan. This team also works in collaboration with the Noordhoff Craniofacial Foundation to provide comprehensive care in domestic as well as international patients. The team has provided many missions to the surrounding countries for patients with cleft lip/palate and craniofacial anomalies since 1998. The Chang Gung Craniofacial Center has trained numerous doctors and related healthcare specialists from other countries. A renowned activity is the yearly forum for cleft lip cleft palate and the orthognathic surgery, which attracted hundreds of participants from many countries.
Dr. Lo has published more than 160 peer-review scientific articles and authored several book chapters. He has been invited by international societies and centers for lecturing and surgical demonstration. He has received honorable awards and honored professorship from other countries. The Craniofacial Imaging Lab and the Craniofacial Research Center has specialized in 3D imaging for assessment, planning, surgical simulation, 3D printing and validation. The works resulted in numerous publications in the distinguished journals. The medical imaging has improved the treatment outcome in restoring patients’ function and facial appearance.

Successful Cases
Success rate for the cleft lip and palate repair are 100%. 3D simulation was used for orthognathic surgery with better occlusion, facial symmetry, midline adjustment, and facial esthetic outcome.
